Aubameyang gives Arsenal green light to sign €60m schemer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has publicly sanctioned Arsenal’s attempts to get Houssem Aouar on board at The Emirates.
Aouar is one of Arsenal’s top targets as they look to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closes next week.
Recent reports suggested the Gunners had firmed up their interest and made a concrete move to sign the player. However, Lyon rejected their €35m bid.
According to Eurosport France, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas believes Aouar, 22, is worth €60m.
Asked whether he was in favour of the Lyon star signing, Aubameyang was in no doubt. The Arsenal skipper did not swerve the questions, instead he gave the green light to Mikel Arteta’s efforts to land the talented midfielder.
Laughing, he told Canal+: “Of course we are in favour [of signing him].
“He would add quality. Let’s see what happens. I cannot hide that, even if he is with Lyon.”
Lyon chief Aulas though continues to insist that Lyon will not let their star player leave on the cheap.
“For Houssem Arsenal is too far from his value,” he said recently. “We are counting on him to play a great match in Lorient and lead Lyon in the Champions League next year.”
The good news for Arsenal though is that Aouar is believed to be keen to make the move to the Emirates Stadium. Still, it may take some last-week wheeling and dealing from Arteta to raise the cash to sign Aouar.
The Gunners have also been heavily linked with Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid all summer.
