After nearly two decades of lull in professional boxing in Edo state, the city of Benin is set to host four bouts in one night

Billed for Saturday, November 9, 2019 inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the University of Benin, the event is being put together by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, South South Area Council.

Although, boxing promotion is not the primary responsibility of the board , the event according to the Vice President of the NBB OF C, Elder Sonny Omo-Egharevba, is an attempt to boost pro boxing in the  South South region.

Top on the bill is the non- title fight featuring the current African Boxing Union (ABU) welterweight champion Stanley Edo Boy Eribo against Jamiou Akpessou of Benin Republic.

Apart from the main event which is being promoted as Stanley Edo Boy Home Coming Fight, , there are four supporting bouts.

Debutant Ugbogbo Stevenson will square up against Aaron Ehidiamen in a cruiserweight bout while Teddy Ojo will trade punches against Segun Lanre in a super middleweight contest. Perhaps, what promises to be  the bout of the night is the female heavyweight contest between Blessing Abisoye and Emem Edem. This bout, no doubt, promises to be a thriller.

Mohammed Tijani will take on Prince Odion Erhahon in Light welter contest.

Other events slated for night are the presentation of awards to notable personalities and the formal inauguration of the NBB of C South South Area Council.

The roll call of the awardees include Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, Rep. Omoregie Ogbeide – Ihama, Pastor Azemen Azena and His Royal Highness,Stephen Usiomwanta Imadonmwunyi , Enogie of Obsgie N’ Evbiosa .
