Daniel Akpeyi scooped the Man of the Match award on his return for Kaizer Chiefs, and the Nigerian has responded to the criticism he has faced recently.
Akpeyi started on the bench but was called upon after 26 minutes when Itumeleng Khune picked up an injury.
The Nigeria international certainly silenced any doubters on the night as he played a crucial role as Chiefs claimed a 1-0 win over Baroka at the weekend.
“I’m a big goalkeeper. Whatever is thrown at me I just have to take it and use it as a stepping stone to get to the next level that’s the confidence I came into the team with,” Akpeyi told SuperSport after the game.
“So my teammates were actually encouraging me when I was entering the field it’s because they have confidence in me as well.
“So I think the result works generally well. And thank we have the three points to stay on top.”
