CIC begins construction of worldclass Sports Complex in Enugu

College of Immaculate Conception, CIC, Enugu, in collaboration with it’s global Alumni association held its ground breaking ceremony of the N350million multi-purpose Sports Complex which took place last Friday.

Present at the event which drew eminent personalities from far and near were US-based Emma Denchukwu, who is the President of the association, the  Chairman, Dr. Nnamdi Maduekwe and the CFO of the body, Chief Chike Okoye, who traveled from Washington DC to be part of the historic event.

The laudable efforts which is being put in place by the association is part of their determination to assist in harnessing core national values

While speaking at the occasion, Denchukwu, reiterated the association’s desire to continue to project the image of the school by ensuring they give back to the institution the value it deserves.

He praised the efforts of the Old Boys for making sure the dream of turning the school’s image and recognition into an enviable height is achieved.

However, he advised the beneficiaries of the project to ensure they make maximum use of the edifice upon completion.

Also, worthy of mention during the event is another top member of the association and US-based businessman popularly known as The Global MVP, Sir Benson “Ezeomeogo na Oba” Ejindu, who is the Grand Patron of Enugu Rangers ex-players (Home and Abroad).

It will be important to note that Chief Ejindu’s positive involvement in the project ensured the birth of the sports complex which finally took off last week.

The laudable effort which is being put in place by the association is part of their determination to assist in harnessing core national values to revive the culture of competitive sports among the youths in Enugu State.

The project which covers indoor and outdoor pavilions with world class sports facilities as well as external works is expected to be completed in 2022.

In his speech, the Principal of the College, Reverend Father, Hilary Mgbodile, noted, “the idea of multi-sports complex in an institution like CIC leaves much to be desired.

“Through this project, you would have given to CIC all it needs to be the first in sports and aesthetics.”

“We shall not stop thanking God for having you as our inspiration, and partners on the wheel of progress. CIC is gradually becoming the dream of every parent in Enugu and environs,” he added.
