Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC shared the spoils with Wikki Tourists after a 1-1 draw in a Matchday 18 fixture of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played on Wednesday at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe, the adopted home ground of the hosts.
Having ended their six-game winless streak against Rivers United on Sunday in Lagos with a 1-0 triumph, the Olukoya Boys stood tall against Wikki and claimed a valuable away point to keep their continental play off ticket hope alive.
MFM made 14 changes to the squad that beat Rivers United at home for the game against the Bauchi-based outfit. Eleven players out of the 14 listed featured in Wednesday’s starting 11 and they gave good account of themselves.
The hosts scored the first goal of the exchange on 38 minutes through Franklin Anthony’s free header after series of attacking moves that was dealt with by the Lagos-based team.
The Olukoya Boys had to wait until the 75th minute before they could get an equalizer through an own goal when Wikki defender deflected in a header from Joshua Abah off a goal mouth scramble. The game ended 1-1 and MFM recorded their fifth away point of the season.
MFM FC assistant coach, Alli Suleiman Obinna who led the team to Gombe in the absence of the head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu appreciated the players for their commendable display and also talked about the next line of action for the team.
“First and for most I will like to appreciate our players for the hard fight and the way they played today against Wikki Tourists. They really did well and made sure we got something from the game.
“Talking about where do we go from here, well we have like four matches to go so all we need to do now is to take the game one after the other.
“We are going home now to prepare for Remo Stars game on Sunday and I believe we will be victorious by the special grace of God,” he said to MFM FC Media team after the game.
Despite the 1-1 draw MFM still occupy the third position on the NPFL Group A table with 28 points from 17 league matches.
