The NBA Academy Africa were crowned the champions of the European Youth Basketball League (EYBL) Playoff Tournament in Pecs, Hungary last weekend. After defeating the Ratgeber Academy 82-63 in the opener on Friday night, the academy’s winning streak continued with two consecutive wins, against the Basket Rimini Crabs (78-40) on Saturday and the London United in the semi-final on Sunday (78-47).
The NBA Academy Africa team beat the Nyiregyhaza Blue Sharks in the Sunday’s final with Kurt-Curry Wegscheider (Central African Republic) voted the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. The NBA Academy Africa team were undefeated in all the stages of the tournament.
The academy team participated in Group A’s two stages of the competition to qualify for the Playoffs – Stage 1 took place in November 2018 with Stage 2 concluding last January.
Six teams qualified for the Playoffs hosted in Pecs from March 21-24.
