Moses must play regularly at Fernebahce – Lawal

Former Super Eagles winger, Garba ‘Chindo’ Lawal has urged Fernebahce of Turkey new signing, Victor Moses to ensure he gets regular playing time with the Turkish Super Lig club, in order to justify his loan deal from Chelsea of England.

Lawal stated Tuesday morning on a radio sports programme monitored by that Moses needs to play regularly, considering his high-level status in the game, hence the need for the winger to step up.

Lawal, who was part of Nigeria’s gold medal-winning under-23 squad at Atlanta ’96 Olympics and scored one of the goals when the Eagles sank Spain 3-2 at France ’98 World Cup, acknowledged that not getting into the match day squad accounted for Moses’ exit from Chelsea.

However, while hinting that he would have preferred outright transfer from Chelsea to Fernebahce for Moses, Lawal stressed that it would be sad to see the star again face the same situation in Turkey.

Lawal stated curtly: “He has to play regularly. Moses knows what he has to do, he cannot afford to relax.

“Now that he has left Chelsea, he must not allow what happened to him there to repeat itself in Turkey. He just has to play regularly.”

The former Super Eagles’ winger, Victor Moses has hailed the electrifying atmosphere at new club Fenerbahce after making his debut in their 3-2 win over Yeni Melatyaspor on Monday night.

The former Wigan Athletic star signed for Fenerbahce last week and came off the bench in the 66th minute against Melatyaspor with the scores level at 2-2 before Mehmet Topal scored four minutes from time to earn the former league champions their first win in six outings.

Moses, who was marveled at the support of the fans during his introduction, praised the team for the important win whilst saying he was happy to have started on a winning note.

“I’m very happy to get an important win. We are very pleased. From the first moment of the match, you saw how willing and determined our teammates are. I’m very happy to be here and be a footballer of this team. Three points were very important tonight.

“It was a fabulous atmosphere. Saw a great atmosphere. It was incredible. I want to say I can’t believe it. I had heard a lot about Fenerbahce fans but it was really amazing to see them with my own eyes this evening.

“I’m glad I had the chance to play football in this atmosphere. I would like to thank everyone who came here. They gave me confidence. They motivated me and my teammates.

“I started training. I feel different. I’m happy. From the moment I stepped into our facilities, I felt the size of the club. I felt this power. Let’s grow up together. I want to play my football and enjoy this,” Moses concluded.

The 28-year-old joined the club on loan until the end of the 2019/2020 season after failing to convince Maurizio Sarri for a place in Chelsea’s first team.
