Pogba’s brother slams Mourinho for poisoning Man Utd dressing room

Paul Pogba’s brother, Mathias, has blamed Jose Mourinho for the midfielder’s struggles at Manchester United and says the 55-year-old was obsessed with attention.

The Portuguese was sacked in mid-December after falling out with the majority of his squad at Old Trafford. Pogba was keen on leaving United last summer after his relationship with Mourinho deteriorated and he was almost certain to hand in a transfer request if the 55-year-old remained in charge. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival has seen Pogba reinstated as United’s main man and Mathias has blamed Mourinho’s ego from preventing the midfielder from shining.

The problem was Mourinho, right down the line,’ his brother told French radio station RMC.

‘In the locker room, outside the locker room, everything. ‘From what we see of Mourinho, he always wants to be the maestro, the centre of attention. ‘Paul doesn’t even calculate that aspect. You respect him, he will respect you, you trust him, he will make you big matches.’

Mourinho labelled Pogba a ‘virus’ after the Frenchman’s performance in a 2-2 draw with Southampton at the start of December and kept him on the bench for his final game in charge in a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. Pogba, though, has appeared reborn under Solskjaer and joined United at their Dubai training camp on Monday after staying in Manchester for an extra day to receive treatment on an injury that kept him out of the 2-0 FA Cup third round win against Reading at Old Trafford on Saturday.
