Director of Sports, Bayelsa State Sports Council Chief Patimidi Tukuru has praised the unrelenting spirit of Team Bayelsa at the ongoing 19the edition of the National Sports Festival holding in Abuja. He reminded the team officials and athletes that their achievement at the festival, despite\u00a0 daunting challenges was propelled by strong will and determination to write the name Bayelsa in gold.\r\nChief Tukuru charged the contingent to be upright and disciplined, saying discipline remain a benchmark to driving success at all times. He assured that the sports council is in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports Development to ensure that Bayelsa State Government appreciate the gallantry of Team Bayelsa at the festival.\r\nHowever, the director did not take it kindly with some athletes that blatantly tried to rubbish the good image of Bayelsa state, after collecting their festival entitlements. In order to\u00a0 in still discipline among programmed athletes, Bassey Ika NSA, 73kg Judoka has been suspended indefinitely without salary from service.\r\nBassey's suspension was as result of his refusal to participate in the Judo event, when he was billed to fight in his weight category. Bassey had demanded one million naira from the council before he could take to mat for competition it was clear he have won to shore up Bayelsa medal log.
