The Kano State Government has commended Kano Pillars Football club for reaching the final stage of this year’s Aiteo/Federation Cup.
The Kano Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, made the commendation while reacting to the performance of the club after Pillars defeated Katsina United Football club by 4-1 through penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regulation time, in the match played at the Agege Stadium, Lagos state.
Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna who personally sponsored the return flight tickets to Lagos said the gesture was to motivate the team to win the cup.
He described the success of the club in the competition so far as a collective effort of the Kano state government, management of the club and other stakeholders in the state and hoped the momentum would be sustained.
The Deputy Governor noted that plans are under way to camp the players in preparation for the final match against Enugu Rangers International Football club on October 24 in Asaba, Delta state.
On his part, the chairman of the club Alhaji Tukur Babangida thanked the state government for its concern to the team and assured that they would do everything humanly possible to ensure successful outings during the final.
