Delta govt fulfils ambulance pledge to UNN

In fulfilment of an earlier promise made during the 57th Founder’s Day ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), held on October 6, 2017, the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Tuesday (20/06/2019) donated an ambulance to the institution.
Making the donation in Nsukka on behalf of the Governor, the State Commissioner for Information, Ogbueshi Patrick Ukah, said the gesture was to alleviate the logistics challenges facing the medical centre of the institution.
He urged them to judiciously make use of the ambulance by saving lives adding that the ambulance wilI assist in times of emergency cases.
Receiving the ambulance, the Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Professor Benjamin Ozumba, commended the state Governor for the kind gesture, affirming that it was timely and appealed to other state governments, corporate organizations and other groups to emulate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and come to the aid of the institution in other areas of needs.
The Vice Chancellor appealed to all Deltans to vote for the Governor in the next election for more dividends of democracy in the state.
In an interview, the Permanent Secretary, Government House and Protocol, Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje, urged other sectors and those in positions of authority to help in contributing to the development of the various institutions across the country, adding that government alone cannot develop the country.
He commanded the university community for the relative peace existing in the institutions and the host community.
The Chief Job Creation Officer in the state, Prof. Eric Eboh, was part of the delegation.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of the ambulance to the Vice Chancellor and members of the Governing Board of the institution.
