Confident Rohr, Mikel say Eagles ready to tango

Super Eagles coach, Nigeria’s Gernot Rohr, is confident that his players will take the world by storm when the country starts its campaign at the Russia 2018 World Cup.
The Eagles’ consistency as he featured 98 percent of the players at his disposal for the World Cup in five straight games leading to the Mundial. He stressed that the Eagles are in their best frame of mind and the spirit in camp has been is very high, which are the attributes the team need to excel.
He said after the team’s last training at the Arena in Essentuki, that: “We are happy, everybody is training well. There are no injuries and the team physically is ready. Tactically, we will be. All the 23 players are in good shape which is the most important for us. The city where we prepared in Russia have lots of places for recovery in case any of my players had knocks, but they are all intact, and the altitude is good for us as well,” Rohr added.
The Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, toeing the line of the team’s coach, has stated that the team stepped up their preparations for their World Cup opener against Croatia on Saturday.
The former Chelsea star, expressed his satisfaction with the training facilities at the Eagles base camp in Yessentuki.
He said: ”We need to continue to work hard, we need to continue to train and do exactly what we want and what the coach asks for us,” Mikel told reporters, including TASS.
”I think it’s (the base camp) good, the field is very good, the fans and the children who came to support us are amazing. It was nice that after the training we had the opportunity to give some autographs to the guys. We are in a very good place, I believe.”
Rohr said that the players are ready physically and he will use the next three days to work on tactics and technique.
After the cracker against Croatia on June 16, Nigeria will also face Iceland on June 22, in Volgograd and Argentina on June 26, at St. Petersburg in Group D of the World Cup.
