Imoedemhe leads Team Nigeria to Hockey Masters World Cup in Spain

Former Nigeria international hockey defender, Barrister Walter Imoedemhe, is set to lead Team Nigeria to the Exin Hocket Masters World Cup in Terrassa, Spain.
Imoedemhe, who is the initiator of the Hockey Masters in Nigeria is ably supported by another ex-international hockey player and one-time vice president of The Nigeria Hockey Federation, Folarin Jaiyeola, are perfected plans to do Nigeria proud in the Masters World Cup organised by the International Masters Hockey Association.
The EXIN Masters World Cup, which is in its 4th edition will take place at Egara, near Barcelona, Spain from July 27th to August 5, 2018.
The team Nigeria Hockey Masters which also have great players like Emmanuel Isibor, Felix Gheghor, Rogers Chammang Victor, Jide Adesina, Ediga Agbo, Kaze, Arthur Jumbo, Omoregie, Idesape, Kaze Sunday, Femi Ayinla among others based across the country. The Team NIgeria chief Coach, Fatai Atanda and the other players will be joined by other 2,000 players from all over the world.
Due to the huge number of participation expected, the 4th EXIN Masters World Cup in Terrassa will be the biggest sport event ever organised in the city of Terrassa.
The Walter Imoedemhe-led Team Nigeria will compete in the men’s +50 years old with Argentina, England, Canada, Spain, South Africa, Scotland, Zimbabwe, Wales, Germany, New Zealand, USA, France, Netherland, Italy and Ireland.
Nigeria will play the opening match of the World Cup in a Pool A cracker against, Ireland, before engaging in battles against Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa respetively.
Nigeria’s first match will be played on July 27 in a Pool A cracker against Ireland at 5.30pm local time. The Team Nigeria’s second game comes up on July 28 against Australia at 5.30pm. Nigeria’s third match comes up on July 29th against fellow African team, Zimbabwe at 2.30pm in match number 17. July 30, Nigeria will keep a date with South Africa at 6.10pm in match number 20 and take a rest day on July 31st.
Only the first and second teams in each of the pool will qualify for the quarter finals which will be played on August 1, 2018. In the quarter finals, since Nigeria is playing in Pool A, the winner of the Pool A league format round robin will play the second place team in Pool D, and winner of Pool D will play second place in Poola. Pool D has Argentina, Emgland, France and Wales. The grand final has been scheduled for July 5th at 10.35am.
Pool B has Netherlands, New Zealand, Canada and United States of America, while Pool C has Germany, host nation Spain, Scotland and Italy.
Games will be played at the Club Egara and four sub venues and a total of seven pitches at CD Terrassa which is 3.6kilometres from Club Egara, Marti Colomer Olympic Stadium (2.6km from Club Egara) and Terrassa HC (3.2km from Club Egara.) The Martí Colomer’s Stadium (city of Terrassa) and in Matadepera’s municipal hockey field. The five fields are very close to each other not more than a 15 minutes drive. Because of its similar modern facilities and proximity they are conceived as a sole big venue.
The EXIN Masters World Cup is the field hockey World Cup for master national teams from over age 35 years, from all over the world. The competition includes both men and women teams and is divided into the following categories: Each category (+35, +40, +45, +50, +55), both men and women, will have a winner, so that at the end of the tournament there will be 10 World Cup winners.
The EXIN Masters World Cup takes place every 2 years and is promoted since 2012 by the International Master Hockey Association (IMHA) and worldwide recognized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
The organisers of the EXIN Masters World Cup have promised to make the event the biggest hockey tournament ever.
