The Team Manager of Sunshine Queens Football Club of Akure, Mojisola Adekanye, has said that the brilliant displays of the club in the first round of the Nigeria Women Premier League which saw them top the table was all due to determination on the part of the players and coaches.
Adekanye, told journalists in Akure at the weekend that, the job is still half done, and there are lots more ahead to be executed.
The soft spoken Team manager further revealed that the Women Premier League in Nigeria is becoming more competitive compared to previous years.
“The league to me has improved tremendously, from its organisation to officiating, teams now win matches away from home convincingly unlike what it used to be some years ago.”
On what fans should expect from Sunshine Queens in the second stanza of the league, Adekanya said, the players are aware of the task ahead and willing to finish what they started well.
She explained that the target of the team this season is to win a double, the league title and the Aiteo Cup. The Queens are the first to win any title for Ondo state in competitive football, when they won the Women’s League trophy in 2005.
